Michael Bennet
A faithful and alert Arkansas Project reader sends along a note that the newly appointed U.S. senator from Colorado, Denver Public Schools Superintendent Michael Bennet, has a significant Arkansas tie: His wife, Susan Daggett, is a Marianna native.
The bride, 33, a lawyer, is to join the Earthjustice Legal Defense Fund, formerly the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, in Denver next month. Ms. Daggett, who is keeping her name, graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College, and she and the bridegroom received law degrees from Yale University. Her mother is a painter and an instructor at the Arkansas Art Center’s Museum School in Little Rock. Her father is a partner in Daggett, VanDover, Donovan & Perry, a Little Rock law firm.
Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, a Democrat, has appointed Bennet to fill the seat of outgoing Sen. Ken Salazar, who is departing the seat to serve as Secretary of the Interior and presumably to never be heard from again.
Kudos for the tip go to Arkansas Project fan Bill from Sheridan, who wouldn’t have to spend his Saturdays combing through 11-year-old New York Times wedding notices if they’d just open a damn Olive Garden in Sheridan.
