No, not that Arnold.
I know the legislature is in session so everyone is down in the dumps, nervously hanging on to your guns and pocketbooks. Plus it’s like 85 degrees outside and that’s just weird. But, have no fear, I bring good tidings! Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) has proposed a new bill that would rename the bankruptcy courthouse in Little Rock after a conservative hero!
H.R. 388 would rename the building the “Morris Sheppard Arnold United States Courthouse” in honor of, you guessed it, Morris Sheppard Arnold. Mr. Arnold, or “Buzz” as he’s more affectionately known, is a judge on the United State Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He was appointed to the bench by President George H.W. Bush. In 1982, he served a brief term as chairman of the state Republican Party before being appointed to the U.S. District Court by President Reagan in 1985. (If any of the aforementioned facts are incorrect, blame the experts at Wikipedia.)
The other three members of Arkansas’s House delegation — Rick Crawford, Steve Womack, and Tom Cotton — are all cosponsors of the bill.
We at The Arkansas Project are generally opposed to naming government buildings after living people. But for Buzz Arnold, we might make an exception.
